I met Buster for the first time today at one of LDCRF's adoption events. My foster Deena (love her!) just found a wonderful family to share her life with and I couldn't leave without a new foster to help fill that giant void, even if only a little. I had a couple dogs that I was thinking about and just when I thought I knew who I was taking home, well there was Buster. I hadn't noticed him during the entire event. Apparently, he had been hiding behind a bush for most of it. They were about to put him on the van and I said "Wait, who is that? That one! I want that one!" So I snatched Buster up and we headed to the car. Buster stood by my car door for a moment. He looked at me, then looked into the car, then back at me... I asked him if he wanted to get in and then, as if I had just given him permission, he jumped right in and laid down on the backseat. He looked at me with a hint of a grin and a dangling tongue. I think he knew good stuff was coming. I blasted the a/c and turned on the radio, Buster happily looked out the window as if pleased to have a chauffeur to show him around Fairfax.
When we got home, Buster was greeted by my boyfriend and our three dogs. He was absolutely perfect at introductions. He let everyone sniff him and wagged his big fluffy tail at all of the attention. We all went for a quick walk and he was instantly accepted into our pack of pups. Apollo, our pit bull puppy, and Lucia, our shy shepherd, are particularly in love with him. Mamah, our bossy JRT, has really taken to him and likes to give him kisses. He also met our kitten fosters tonight and was very good with them, so he should do well with kitties.
Buster is already playing with the other dogs, chewing on antlers, and enjoying the comforts of giant dog beds. He is still working on housetraining, but otherwise he is the perfect house guest and such a good boy!
